Coach's Expectations
Every Coach is expected to act in an appropriate manner at all times. Each coach is expected to read and accept the Coaches’ Code of Conduct and adhere to its spirit. In addition, the younger ages require that coaches also adhere to the following:
Promote an environment of fun and learning.
Safety as the number one priority.
Communicate expectations to parents. It is very important that parents understand what is expected of them and their children and foster an environment of inclusion. Get everyone involved as much as they are able.
Sportsmanship should not only be shown, but taught to your players. Manoa Baseball should known around the state and region as an exemplary program that plays the right way. This is taught at the youngest ages.
Children and coaches are required to wear their uniforms for practices and games in a manner that shows pride in their league and themselves.
Coaches should police their own parents. If there is ever an issue with a parent that cannot be addressed by a coach, it should be brought to the attention of the division managers.
Rules of Play
Each team will have minimum one practice per week.
This age group is coach pitch/batting tee.
Batter is allowed 5 swings at a pitched ball. After which, the ball should be placed on a tee. The batter will get two attempts at the tee. If they do not get a hit, they can run through first (and return to the dugout).
Safety is our top priority. All batters will wear helmets, no batters in the on-deck circle, and all fielders will be behind the pitcher’s mound.
Half of the line-up each inning. Example, first 7 batters the first inning, second 7 batters the second inning. Third inning, the first 7 batters, and so forth.
No score is kept and no outs are recorded. However, teams may play such that if clean outs are made, runners return to the bench. Every inning each team must bat half of their line-up.
Maximum of 6 players in the outfield.
Batters/runners can only advance ONE base at a time. Any hit over the outfielder's head can advance to second base.
A player is to use his/her own bat and/or helmet. Each player should have their own glove.
Cleats are helpful but not necessary at this age.
Home team (established by the schedule) will occupy 3rd base dugout.
Each team will provide one baseball at the start of the game, but the ultimate responsibility for providing clean baseballs lies with the Home team.
Coaches should serve as catchers for their team to speed up the game.
Game Time
All games must conclude within the assigned time slot and not exceed 1 hour 30 minutes.
No new inning after 1 hour and 15 minutes.
